Why Not?

Soooo this summer is turning out to be by far the most amazing summer of my life. The reason why my summer is so great is because I abide by my motto which is..."Why Not?" I mean seriously think about it everything in life you can apply the saying to. To whoever is reading this blog...please try for one day to say why not with every opportunity that comes and tell me how it goes. Most likely your day will be great...filled with random adventures that end in everlasting memories.
Memories that I have made in the past week by using this motto happen to be crazy yet so amazing. For example, a few nights ago I am out in ogunquit center (by far the greatest summer town in the U.S.A, come visit) and sure enough the bars are closing. The weather is awful and clearly Nicole and I are just not ready to call it a night and go to sleep. So what do we do? Well, we decide to go to the Harbor and stand outside in the pouring rain as waves crash on us. We danced to the music blasting from the car, we were freezing, soaked, and having the time of our life. What made this night even better was the fact that I thought it was necessary to take a shot at the tavern which is such WT (white trash). I tell Nicole lets first take a shot and then get soaked and what does she say to this????? "Why Not?" Perfect, Wonderful, Amazing Night...Its all about the cheap thrills in life.
Yesterday was a day filled with laughs and pureeee happiness. The weather sucked yet again...so sick of the rain. Nicole and I wake up and I was supposed to go to Worcester, she was supposed to go to work. She asks me not to go to Worcester and stay in Maine and I ask her to just not go into work and call in....the response for both of us...."Why Not?"
So we went for breakfast and planned out activities for the next two months...festivals, concerts, plays, theres a lot of things coming up this summer. Then made our way to Wells Harbor Park...beautiful. Played in York for awhile....decided we are going to invest in surf boards. It's necessary. I want to be a surf girl. Why not?
Then made our way to Portsmouth which if you ever have a chance to go there...do it. Such a cute town! We walked through the parks and window shopped. It was great. I felt like a little kid again being blown away by the beauty of the water and big boats....cheap thrills yet again, perfect.
Nicole and I then decided we were going to have a nice dinner and really take full advantage of the greatest day ever. So we splurge on great drinks and delicious food. 2 hours later we decide its time to leave and drop off nicole's car to her dad. Sure enough what did her dad find in his garage???? A CHICKEN....yes people you read correctly a live CHICKENNNNN! So I ask if I can hold the chicken because clearly it seemed like a great idea. Her dad's response...why not? It was awesomeeee! So soft and once again...such a cheap thrill.
Anyways....my point is...which I am guessing by now you all totallyyyy understand, make the most out of every day. For Real. Just always say Why Not? Can't wait to hear your why not stories. LoveS it Always! xo

Cell Phones and EvieK are like Tires and Nails...DISASTERS

Ok. Seriously FML! So I am having my graduation party today up in Maine and decided to clean the house a little. And sure enough, with my luck, I wash my cell phone with my sheets!!!! I am really?!?!?!? So now I have legit no phone and nooo way to let people know that my phone is dunzo besides facebook. AWESOME.
So, I decided to give you all a little insight on my luck with phones. Well, it all started back in the day...Freshman year of high school when my first cell phone was stolen. Yes, I went to a ghetto high school where people actually stole cell phones during gym class. Then, I was downtown in good 'ol Worcester when I accidentally left my purse in my car for a MINUTE. Remembered it was there, ran back, and sure enough purse and cell phone stolen. GREAT.
Then I go to college. Where I think just maybeeee my luck with cell phones will improve. OH WAS I WRONG!!!!! I went through 7 cell phones freshman year. Yes, you read correctly. 7! I put my cell phone in my back pocket and then when I go to the bathroom I forget my phone is still in my pocket and then it drops into the toilet. So ladies...trust me, never and I repeat neverrrrr put your cell phone in your back pocket I made this mistake 7 times.
Then, Sophomore year...I am thinking alright, I am not a Freshman anymore...maybe I will be more responsible with my cell phone. WRONG AGAIN! Big/Lil reveal night...my phone ends up in legit two pieces. Ask Miss Ally Toolan about this since she witnessed the event of the death of anotherrrr phone.
Junior year comes around, and I was rocking the most ghetto phone in the worldddd. After many crazy JMU nights, my poor phone (9th phone) was attached by an elastic rubber band in order to work. Don't ask why...just over time it started falling apart.
So then, my wonderful grandmother sees my awful phone and decides to ge me another one as long as I promised to take good care of it. I of course promised and did everythinggggg in my power to not lose, break, or have the phone stolen from me. I got the phone junior year during december break and wellllll just killed it. It is a sad day in EvieK's phone history. I admit I have killed 10 phones with the most stupid and absurd reasons. So now pleaseee facebook me, email me, somehow get in touch with me because if you know me at all...you know my phone is attached to my hip at all times.
Good Job EvieK....NOT!

3 Hour Double Blue Hole Experience

Wow. I knew I am always ready for a random and crazy adventure that usually ends up with an unexpected ending but who knew so soon after I just wrote a blog! Alright, so I am still at JMU packing up my apartment which is taking me wayyyy longer than expected because 1.) just imagine me, eve karlin, packing (enough said). 2.) I have to paint my room....ummm yea this will be interesting. And 3.) I wanted to do things that I always said I wanted to do but never had the time such as blue hole.

Now, I figured this blue hole adventure would last about an hour. I figured a 10 minute drive followed by 40min of soaking up the rays followed by a drive back to continue the packing. Wellllll boy was I wrong!!!!!!

The adventure began with me getting directions. First of all, for future reference no one should ever assign me the task of getting directions because clearly that never works out for the best. So, instead of asking a friend I thought it would be best to google it. Here's the website that noooo JMU student should use when trying to go to Blue Hole http://www.swimmingholes.org/va.html. The adventure continued as I picked up my glil Janelle and we headed off for what we thought was going to be a 10 minute drive. Meanwhile the directions said thtis blue hole is in West Virginia. I told Janelle and also said that WV is only 10 min away.....totally making it up but acting completely confident about my geographical intelligence. Janelle said great and we headed off. 10 mins led to 20 to 30 to 40 and finally we looked at eachother and said "OMG!!! This must be the greatest place if jmu students are going to drive sooo far." As we continue along our way we see water and get excited thinking we are getting closer. Janelle went to Blue Hole 2 years ago and was like "yeaaa this all looks really familiar." Ummmm wrong...and....FAIL FAIL FAIL!

We finally reached our destination at "blue hole" which was in the George Washington National Forest after 45 minutes of driving. It was beautiful and I would have jumped in but we did not see any big rocks to jump from. We met a lady and when I asked her where it was safe to jump from I got the response of a blank stare. 2 minutes later she starts laughing and explained that there is ANOTHER blue hole in bridgewater area where jmu students go to! After getting directions from a hillbilly in a pickup truck (using my blog notebook...it came in handy) we decided we drove this far lets go to the othere blue hole. On our drive back to Harrisonburg Janelle and I concluded that there should by no means have 2 blue holes within one hour from each other. I mean seriously, VA can't get creative with naming swimming holes. Janelle was saying that the crayola box is filled with colors...and I AGREE!!!! Why not purple hole, teal hole, magenta hole...and if they do not want to get creative with color choices then make it simple and clear for people. How about just Harrisonburg Swimming Hole for the one in the 'burg and George Washington National Forest for the other one! That way nooo confusion for people like myself who enjoy googling directions.

Anyways, after another hour of driving we reached the real blue hole. For any future jmu students who want to go to blue hole just go on 33 west....thats it....i swear. I never jumped into water feeling such an accomplishment. Yay Janelle, we made it to not only one blue hole but 2!!! Great Times!

The Beginning of a Lifelong Adventure

I graduated from James Madison University on May 9. There were all of these thoughts running through my head throughout graduation week. I was not sure if I was really ready to graduate, get a job, face the real world. I had fears of moving to NYC, pursuing my dream as a dancer, with no solid job. I was sad about leaving many of my friends who mean the most to me (355 love, sa love, 1033 love, sar bear love....lots of people in my love bubble). I became nervous that my new life will be consisted of a 9-5 job followed by dance followed by a night job followed by NO free time to just sit back and do many adventures.
At JMU, I was lucky enough to be a Student Ambassador. The greatest experiences I had at college was with all of my friends in this organization. We did so many amazing adventures together from retreats, to senior nights, to wed meetings and dhall madness...the list literally could go on for hours, but the best adventures always was BEACH WEEK!
I just got back from Beach Week which was the time of my life!!!!!!! I mean it does not get much better than being on a beautiful beach with 104 of your closest friends with no responsibilities. Needless to say, many random and crazy adventures happened in Nags Head last week. Some adventures included streaking on the beach only to be completely scared of the small crabs who are probably more scared of me (had to be carried off the beach), 9am beer bongs (thanks jordan cole) which led to a crazy day filled with a popsicle fest, football games, and later a FUN night filled with rob tricking everyone that he was going to throw me off the balcony, but the best adventure of them all was the job I got for one day delivering telephone books throughout all of Nags Head. I mean seriously, who gets a job for a day on beach week!!!!
So after the fact that I should have listened to Toolan and Cote who kept saying do not do the job so not worth it....I went ahead and said money is money lets do this thingggg. I thought I was going to deliver coupon books and it would be cash....ohhhh no no no it was not! I had to run from house to house delivering big telephone books for 25 cents a book divided by 3 people on a hot hot day!!!! The story goes on and on but all I know is I got back to the beach house out of the back of a pickup truck physically exhausted but with a story.
After my friends heard my day's adventure we all decided I needed to start a blog. This comes back to the beginning of the blog when I said I was scared about not being able to do crazy things next year. Well after talking to my friends I realized that random adventures just come my way and no matter where my path goes next year it will be filled with random stories that put smiles on people's faces! So this is the beginning of many more stories to come...get excited people because I will document my life's craziness for a good laugh! I loveS you all...remember the love bubble! xo
